The skinny..

Heather Moore is a South African Illustrator, Designer and Online Editor. It seems that she can do anything, well!

I cam across Skinny La Minx via Decor8 and I can't wait to get my hot little mitts on one of her pieces - I don't really mind what it is - the teatowels are pretty cool and so are the purses... actually the cushions are pretty amazing too.

Check out her website, blog and Etsy store.

Marvel over her wonderful products below.

There are loads more products on show at her website. I recommend you pop over there toot suite!

Its a busy time

Things are busy in the land of Songbird. I have had a few days off work so I have spent the time getting ready for the next Devonport Craft Market (4th July) and also A Craft Affair (11th July).

I have some new earrings for sale and some really cool products to be launched in Christchurch. I have also been developing new packaging for my necklaces and dangle earrings PLUS I have been sanding and painting some new table features.

I have also been utilising some more acquired vintage buttons into more Encore products - I am loving this range and it seems to be really popular with my customers. I have included some in my shop update of today - see below for a sample.

I haven't been looking around the blogosphere much over the last few days as I have been head down making but will bring you some fun stuff that I have found when I get a moment.

If you want to find out a bit more about Songbird Designs, you can check out my 'Meet the Maker' on the 'A Craft Affair' Blog.

Back to trimming and punching! Didn't a pick a great few days to be off work - this weather has been stunning!

I also love, of course, her subject matter. Birds.

Check out her blog here and her Etsy shop here.
The blog is packed full of interesting images and some great tutorials. It is certainly worth a look!

Foodie Heaven

I like to think I am a foodie. But really I am not. I love food, mostly looking at it. I am not actually very good at cooking it.
Because I am better at looking, Food blogs have become a staple in my daily blog reading.

I have always looked at cooking posts in craft and design blogs and thought, AMAZING. These people can craft, illustrate, design AND cook amazing looking food. Styled perfectly in their photos. I am always jealous.

I decided I needed more. So I went in search of some food blogs that I could make my regulars. I found this post from the Times Online. There are lots of amazing blogs but the following are my picks (plus a few others I found in my travels)

1. Orangette
2. Cannelle et Vanille
3. Smitten Kitchen
4. Not without Salt
5. Nordljus
6. Joy the Baker
7. Tartlette
8. 101 Cookbooks
9. Tea & Cookies
11. Pictures and Pancakes

What do I love about them... The pictures, the recipes, the places that they take me to, the indulgence, pretty much everything. Check out some images below..

Do you read food blogs? Tell me about your favourites?

You wanna piece of me? Part Two

Songbird Designs has another retailer - YAY!

The second retailer is the lovely Ecostore Retail Shop in Freemans Bay, Auckland. Across the road from the New World.

I have been a fan of the Ecostore products for a long time but most especially since the Child came into our lives. I then became much more conscious of the sorts of products I was using and wanting to minimise our usage of harsh chemicals. Both for the planet and for ourselves.

The opportunity to stock some Songbird Products in this store, is just amazing and I am so grateful. The majority of the products that will be stocked fall under a new banner of "Encore by Songbird Designs".

These products are made using recycled products (thanks to all those who donate!). Gradually all Songbird Paper Goods will transition to recycled paper and will utilise sustainable consumables and processes. I am really excited to make this transition.

You can follow Ecostore on Twitter here, Facebook here or buy online here or Visit in person (where you can get product refills, bulk buys and other amazing Eco Friendly products) address is 1 Scotland Street, Freemans Bay.

Thanks ecostore for supporting Songbird Designs!
